Policy Statement

It is the policy of ONYX INTEGRATED SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED to conduct its activities in a manner that will protect safety, health and the environment.
To this end, the company:

  • Integrate safety, health and environmental protection into everyday activities
  • The Company will provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions for all employees, and use every endeavor to protect and conserve the environment.
  • Comply with all safety, health and environmental laws or regulation
  • Encourage employees to initiate and maintain relationship with company public agents regarding safety, health and environment matters, This will include recognizing and responding appropriately to company and community concerns about such matters.
  • Conserve Company and natural resources by careful management of emissions, discharges and eliminating unnecessary waste generation
  • Maintain a product stewardship program by taking the appropriate steps to understand the health effect of ONYX Integrated services Nigeria Limited product.
  • Ensure employee conformity with this policy by a comprehensive compliance program including safety audits
  • Provide appropriate training in the health and safety matters and in environmental awareness

Employees are responsible for compliance with all corporate policies, procedures and practices and laws to their assigned duties and responsibility. All employees must report any dangerous, unsafe or environmentally damaging acts, events, procedures, omission and equipment that are directly related to ONYX property or activities.

Substance Abuse Policy

The company considers that the use of alcohol is an acceptable part of western culture. It is also clearly aware that the misuse of alcohol is a frequent cause of accidents, and misuse of alcohol is therefore discouraged. ONYX INTEGRATED SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED after careful consideration is of the opinion that substances [alcohol and illegal drugs} misuse id most effectively combated by education and example.
ONYX INTEGRATED SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED policy on substance abuse can be summarized as follows: It applies to all office and field staff:

  • The use of illegal drugs is dangerous and unacceptable
  • Alcohol consumption on personnel may or may not be permitted depending on the policies of the client.

ONYX INTEGRATED SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED personnel are to accept the rules of the client, including where necessary, random alcohol blood tests.
If alcohol is allowed under the client policies, the following standards are expected:

  • Alcohol, if used at all, should be used in moderation.
  • No alcohol should be consumed during working hours.
  • Local customs should be carefully considered vis-à-vis alcohol consumption.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is widely recognized as being a major cause of heart and lungs diseases and is actively discouraged. Further, it is company policy that none of its personnel should be subjected to passive smoking and by popular opinion of that majority of site and office based employees, it is a rule that no smoking shall be allowed in the company's sites and offices.
All managers and line supervisors must understand their specific responsibilities for health and safety within the organization and ensure that relevant safety requirements and codes of conduct are known and adhered to at all time by their employees in their absence, they will delegate responsibilities accordingly. The directors and top management of the company are ready to give full backing to this policy and will encourage and support all those who endeavour to carry it out.

Community Affairs Policy

It is the policy of ONYX INTEGRATED SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED to conduct its public relations in a professional manner recognizing the needs and aspiration of its host communities, thus the company shall:

  • Maintain good relations with communities, public and local authorities in project executions to achieve company objectives and mission
  • Give indigenes the opportunity, clients and host communities to promote good social conduct or to maintain good public relations.
  • Shall corporate with government, client and host communities to promote good social conduct or to maintain good public relations
  • Also carry out their work with damages reduced to the barest allowable minimum in host community environment.
  • Inform authentic community leaders of job operations on their land, obtain their consent and ensure the safety of field crews and equipment.
